Welcome to Earth House News. (About this section) Since 2004 it became apparent that few web sites were covering the Earth Sheltered, alternative housing and energy scene. There were few stories, new ideas, concepts coming forward on a regular basis. After spending years contemplating the 'how' of it I went out and began to dig into various stories from around the world and came up a series of news sites, with the Help of Google, that covered the articles no one else was. Doomsday Monocle-This went through a number of versions before it became the main source of news which covers more then 50 subjects. We bring you the latest updates 2-3 times each week which you can find on the main page. Believe me I am extremely thrilled to bring you this news and it has been a joy finding the stories that make a difference in your life. News Burrow-I guess news burrow was a play on words. I like dipping into word stock as words are fun on their own. With Earth House it was a natural choice as we deal with the world of the underground so burrow spoke of things below ground. It also deals with the weird, the strange and the scary. Booms and Noises-I suppose I could have left this with News Burrow but decided to add a news page of its own. They don't happen everyday but at least once a week we get a news item in on some strange noise 'out there'. Mushroom News-Why Mushrooms? Well I picked them in the wild as a teenager and ate the morel mushrooms from Upper Michigan. I loved them and was later shocked to see how much they sell for. I also have a fascination for this fungi of the forest and meadow which comes in hundreds of shapes and sizes. Bon apetit. Mold News-I never realized how bad a plague mold was in some parts of the world. It doesn't matter where you live mold can make your life miserable. Included on these pages are source material to help you deal with this in building your next home, business or building. Waste Matters-There is a lot of interesting technology being used in recycling especially with manure and human waste. I try to cover just a few of the more important articles because I still believe this is the critical juncture we must utilize and 'heal' if our future is going to be well and whole. Food News-Food is one of those natural desires we all fall craving to so I try to bring in the occasional story that interests me. I hope some of your appetites are whetted by the food stories and food inventions from around the globe. Garden Top News-I like to think I bring in more stories on roof gardens then anyone else in the business. Perhaps that is true. Needless to say this keeps me busy and there are all kinds of cool stories on hosting a cabbage on your overhead roof. Rainwater-I still think rainwater one of the keys to providing us with a means of watering the lawn when it gets dry or even providing us with drinking water under certain circumstances. It is 'free' and sent from above and hurts no one by being collected, stored and used. Think of it as a delay in returning it to the streams and rivers when maybe they need it the most. Underground Utilities-With building underground comes its own difficulties. People like their utilities out of site and out of mind. It clears up the landscape and adds to its beauty. Just remember a few simple rules #1 being make sure you remember exactly where you bury things. It saves a multitude of problems in the future. People build it (and sell it) is a compilation of interesting homes built from eco type materials or interesting places that are sold. I have fun with this one and I’m sure you’ll enjoy reading the stories.
